    You should read at least one paper from each topic´s independent reading list:

  • Accessibility readings are due by April 12
  • Usability readings are due by April 19
  • User centred design readings are due by April 26

    The goal is to assess and eventually contribute to the improvement of the accessibility of a web application considering, at least, its purpose, content, navigation support and user input options

    The expected outcome is a report on a pilot accessibility assessment exercise which includes:

  • Website identification and description
  • Assessment strategy
  • Assessment results
  • Recommendations for accessibility improvement
  • Critical reflection on the underlying options and achieved results of the pilot accessibility assessment exercise

    Attending the seminars and participating on workshops is recommended but alternatives can be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.

    Assessment is graded and has three components:

  • Accessibility testing workshop group report, 35% of final grade, due by May 24
  • Usability testing workshop group report, 35% of final grade, due by May 24
  • Four reading cards, at least one paper from each topic’s independent reading list must be selected, 30% of final grade, accessibility readings are due by April 12, usability readings are due by April 19, user centred design readings are due by April 26
  • All deliverables are to be submitted by e-mail to david.lamas@tlu.ee.

    The general goal is to broaden the perceived scope of interaction design by focusing on making technology accessible and usable.

    By the end, students should be able to recognize main accessibility and usability concerns and know how to apply their criteria and recommendations. Students should also know how to assess online interactive media accessibility and usability measures and how to cater for accessibility and usability features in user centred interaction design processes.

    The main goals are to review each students current master thesis outline and project and to foster the development of their master thesis specifically where the literature review is concerned.

    This seminar is intended to facilitate early peer review, critique and validation of the ongoing master thesis project. This is done both in terms of individual tutoring and group works.
